Body odour
Your body odor is influenced by stage of life, diet, lifestyle, gender, genetics, health and medication.
Sweat, excess production of which is common during menopause (and puberty), contains Amino acids; these acids, which are critical to life, have many functions in our bodies. Unfortunately bacteria which exist in the ducts of adult sweat glands, breaks down this acid leaving Propionic acid which is chemically similar to Acetic acid, with a similar vinegar-like smell and Isovaleric acid which gives a number of strong cheeses their odor.
Whilst body odor is commonly associated with personal hygiene, it can be affected by changes in diet as well as the other factors discussed above.
