... for a cool and comfortable fx menopause

Allergies

The principal cause of allergies associated with the menopause is the hormone progesterone. As a menopausal symptom this is quite rare and can be difficult to treat as it can be temporary in nature.

Allergic symptoms during menopause can result in acne, rosacea, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. For relief, certain type of seborrhea responds well to anti fungal drugs like ketoconazole cream, others respond well to sulfa-based compounds. Some need occasional short courses of cortisone creams. Due to side effects you should be careful not to overdo the cortisones. Premature menopause symptoms and allergy issues extend to inexplicable episodes of anaphylaxis, an allergic reaction that can involve the skin, breathing, digestion, heart, nervous system and bladder, which can be serious.

The chain of events that leads to this type of allergy is unknown, but laboratory studies indicate that progesterone may induce histamine release from white blood cells. Evidence of progesterone and oestrogen hormone allergy shows that some women with menopausal allergies, like asthma and migraine headaches, might be experiencing allergies to their own progesterone and oestrogen hormones and not that from an external source.
